YOUTH MEETINGS
Jewish youth come to Poland to mourn their dead. At the same time, the presence of over thirty thousand Israeli high school students and young Jews from around the world in Poland offers an exceptional meeting opportunity.
At the Forum for Dialogue, for years we have organized meetings between Polish high school students and March of the Living groups. Polish Intercultural Youth Encounters (PIYE), a program organized by the Museum of the History of Polish Jews, enables students from Poland and Israel to get to know each other and discover their common, Polish-Jewish history. The “Closer together” program run by the Centre for Education Development creates partnerships between Polish and Israeli schools, while “We Are Together” is a program initiated by the governor of Masovia voivodeship and run by Museum of the History of Polish Jews and Masovian Superintendent of Education, where Polish and Israeli youth pay tribute to victims murdered in Treblinka.
Before the commemorative ceremony, schools in Kosów Lacki and Małkinia Górna host joint workshops for local high school students and their peers from Israel. Many independent initiatives also exist, run by schools, cities, and NGOs.
